Wednesday, June 20, 1979 THE PILOT—Southern Pines, North Carolina Page 3-A Mrs. Mitchell Metcalf Braun Braun-Matthews Couple Home After Honeymoon Mr. and Mrs. Mitchell Metcalf Braun have returned to their home in Ijansville, Maryland, after a wedding trip to Nassau. The bridegroom, of Rockville, Md. is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Roman C. Braun of Whispering Pines. His bride is the former Constance Eileen Matthews of Kensington, Md., the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Michael C. Matthews of Kensington. They were married May 11 at a 7 p.m. candlelight service at St. John the Baptist Church of Silver Spring, Md. with Father Fred Rosing officiating at the double ring ceremony. Music was by guitarist Marie Bouvet and vocalists Maureen and Mary Beth Corcoran. The bride, given in marriage by her father, wore a gown of candlelight Quiana with a modified Queen Anne neckline accented with appliques of Venice lace. Her fingertip veil of illusion was scalloped around the edges with lace inserts in each scalloped section and bordering the veil. She carried a crescent shaped bouquet of daisies, roses and baby’s breath. Her sister. Miss Joyce Matthews of Kensington, was her maid of honor. She wore a floor length gown of mint green Quiana with a matching pleated cape and carried a bouquet of daisies and baby’s breath Wilson Reunion Shamburger Park was the scene Sunday, June 17, of the annual Wilson family reunion. Approximately 75 descendants of the late A.L. and Neallie Duggins Wilson of Aberdeen gathered by the lake side for this event. Of the Wilsons’ 12 children, nine are living and seven of them were present. They were J. Garfield Wilson of Graham; Roy Wilson of Candor; Jesse Wilson with his wife Catherine of San ford; Junior Wilson with his wife Nellie and Jack Wilson with his wife Beulah of Pinebluff. Also, other family members attending came from Raleigh, Fayet- FORSUREFIMARKEI MAGNETISM WEDS IN JULY — Mr. and Mrs. Jesse Ashburn of Mt. Gilead announce the engagement of their daughter, Melissa Sue (above) to Gary Edward Smith, son of Mr. and Mrs. William Ralph Smith of Candor. The bride-elect is a graduate of Sandhills Community College and works as a graduate nurse at Moore Memorial Hospital. He is a student at Sandhills. Miss Ashburn is the granddaughter of Mrs. John F. Hall of Southern Pines and the late Mr. Hall and the late Mr. and Mrs. Walter G, Ashburn of Carthage. The wedding will be July 21 at Wadeville Bantist Church. Mr. and Mrs. Lobbregt Honored on Anniversary Book Club Installs New Officers Congratulations to Mr. and Mrs. Peter C. Lobbregt, Sr. of 815 East Main Street, Aberdeen, who were married June 6, 1923, 56 years ago! “We just live one day at a time and are thankful for every day that the Lord gives us,” said Mrs. Lobbregt. A reception honoring them was held last Wednesday night at the Calvary Christian Sthoool Cafeteria, Southern Pines. It was given by Mrs. Kent Kelly after the regular Wednesday night service at Calvary Memorial Church where the Lobbregts are active members and the oldest married couple of the congregation. The Lobbregts moved to Aberdeen from Paterson, New Jersey, upon his retirement from the Worthington Cooperation, seventeen years ago. "rhey have made many friends in the San dhills. They have two sons, Peter C. Jr. and Preston. Peter C. Jr. is with the personnel department of Proctor Silex, Inc. and lives in Hidden Valley, Aberdeen, with his wife Catherine and daughter Eleanor who is a third grade teacher at Brutonville Middle School. Candor. Their son Bruce lives in San Francisco, California, with his wife Beckj and three-year-old son Daniel. Preston, a Merchant Marine Captain, resides in Saugus, Mass., with his wife Jean and daughters, Karen and Kirsten. Mr. and Mrs. Lobbregt were married in Paterson by the well known minister, Edward Drew, who served as their pastor for many years. They give much credit to him for their Biblical knowledge. They were remembered with gifts from their family and friends. A new slate of officers for Walter Hines Page Book Club of Aberdeen was installed at the Thursday afternoon meeting held at the Sheraton Inn, Southern Pines. Mrs. Francis Pleasants, presiding officer and out-going president, installed the officers: President - Mrs. Mildred McKeithen; Vice President - Miss Janette Leach; Secretary - Mrs. Margaret Bowen; and Treasurer - Mrs. Troy Geer. This being the annual business meeting, year-end committee reports were given and a reading of the By-la\vs and Constitution, according to the club rules, was read by Mrs. J.K. Bridgers. There were 20 members and two guests present for this meeting, which brought to a close all activities of the club year. Meetings will resume the second Thursday in September. The guests were Mrs. Donald McKoy of Fayetteville and Miss Joanne Maurer of Lexington, Kentucky. Mrs. M.B. Pleasants, Mrs. Dan Mangum and Mrs. Margaret Bowen were hostesses and served a sweet course with coffee prior to the meeting proper. Bridesmaids were Miss Christine Braun of Boston, Mass., sister of the groom, Mrs. Belinda Danley, of Wheaton, Maryland, Mrs. Susan Gosnell, of Rockville, Maryland, and Mrs. Sherriy Weisgerber, of Silver Spring, Maryland. The bridesmaids gowns and bouquets were in rainbow hues and were identical in style to those of the maid of honor. The best man was Stephen Ebner of Frederick, Maryland and the ushers were Dennis Harrington, of Rockville, Maryland, Bruce Danley, of Wheaton, Maryland, Gregory Gosnell of Rockville, Maryland and Patrick Weisgerber of Silver Spring, Maryland. A green Quiana floor length gown was worn by Mrs. Matthews for her daughter’s wedding and Mrs. Braun chose a floor length coral chiffon gown with matching jacket. Both wore white orchid corsages. Following the wedding, the bride’s parents were hosts for a buffet dinner at the Colonial Room in Silver Spring. Music for dancing wa,-* provided. The rehearsal dinner was given on Thursday, May 10, at Manor Country Club, RockvUle, Maryland by the parents of the bridegroom. The bridal party and out-of-town guests attended.
